Curaçao implements its PSC program as a member of the regional Caribbean MoU on Port State Control (CMOU), a regional cooperative body setting and implementing PSC guidelines and policies.
Which aim to eradicate substandard ships and to warrant that our beautiful waters remain clean, safe and free of pollution. We can only achieve this by making sure that all ships entering the Caribbean region and finally in our harbors are submitted to a port state control inspection.
CMOU regularly organize and train all members PSCO’s including the MAC PSCO to implements the PSC program and guidelines and to submit the data of their inspections into the regional CMIS database, which is managed by the CMOU secretariat and consulted on a daily basis by all CMOU member states. Typically, a ship entering the Caribbean region will be inspected under the CMOU regime once every six months. Consistently non-compliant vessels are targeted and listed and can be banned from the CMOU area, if needed. The Secretariat of the CMOU is based in Kingston, Jamaica.
