Mission: Maritime Authority of Curaçao strives for a safe and environmental friendly Shipping and Maritime sector
Vision: To have a sound shipping sector in Curaçao with safe, clean waters and coasts, abiding to international rules and regulations.
The Maritime Authority of Curacao, known before 10.10.10 as the Directorate of Shipping and Maritime Affairs, is the principle partner of the Maritime Administration in Curaçao. This organization was born as SINA (Shipping Inspectorate Netherlands Antilles) during the Second World War, to supervise local shipping.
It started as a governmental service company with the purpose of exercising supervision on local vessels and ships registered in the former Netherlands Antilles and flying the flag of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
Shipping matters are Kingdom matters and therefore the principle laws and regulations are defined in the Shipping Act & Shipping Decree of the Kingdom of the Netherlands for all the countries in the Kingdom.
